The WAHM101: How to be a Work at Home Mom Workshop Series

From the first 101 workshop, much has happened, and a lot has changed in terms of what we know now about the WAHM landscape. That’s why this workshop is an updated version of the first one we did last year, the very first time we connected and communed with the WAHMs here in Manila. The early bird rate is a super steal at Php1,000, and comes with lunch and your workshop materials.

We’ve never offered the workshop this low before, and considering that the content is wholly different from our first workshop, we know that you won’t want to miss this, even if you were there on the first run last October 2012.

We’ll be talking about:
·         how to make the jump from working girl to WAHM (actual steps we took to transition)
·         how to create a need for your services, even if you have never worked from home before. (strategies on creating your own job, so that you will use your skills to start working from home, even if you’re still employed)
·         what you can learn from real WAHMs who’ve made mistakes but have risen to experience success in the work at home lifestyle. You’ll learn from our panel of three very special and inspiring WAHMs!
·         Plus, you’ll be getting goodies from our sponsor, Unilab!

See you there :-)

Life Schooling and Parenting Advice by: Gladys Reyes and Thammie Sy

“The most important thing you should do is be there whenever your children need you the most,” shared Gladys Reyes on what she learned as a mom.

At the Baby & Family Expo Philippines, organized by Mediacom Solutions, Inc., MTRCB board member, celebrity, entrepreneur and hands-on mom Gladys Reyes told the expo attendees that as soon as a woman enters the phase of motherhood, she’ll learn what unconditional love truly means. Reyes, a mother of three, said that there may come a time when one will feel guilty about not being home for hours to closely monitor the kids. But she emphasized that parents need not to choose between being a career person and a parent.

The key is very simple: Give your kids the quality time they need. “It’s not about how long the hours are, it’s rather the quality you give to that allotted time,” she said.

With the advent of social networking, a parent’s attention can also be easily diverted. You may be physically present, but your attention is elsewhere, which makes it just the same when you’re not around.

ThammieSy, a proud mom who runs a famous mommy blog, promotes home schooling and good parenting. Instead of home schooling though, she prefers to call it “life schooling” because from the moment the child is born until he grows up, it is the mom’s duty to educate him about life. She also talked about the importance of setting goals.

According to her, it is important to guide your children to the path of being good and responsible citizens. It is also crucial to ask yourself the “Why?”. Answering this will give you purpose and will give you a strong foundation to reach your goals. Sy also advised, “Instead of them entering our world, let’s enter theirs” she said. Every kid has their own personality and learning styles. So it is vital for every parent to respect their kid’s learning styles and let them grow with a strong sense of self.

With the right knowledge and trustworthy people to back you up, parenting will be much more rewarding than what you ever imagined.

Weekend Dates

I had a busy weekend last week.

Last Saturday my day started with an errand regarding our pharmacy business wherein I need to buy stocks for our store. After lunch I accompanied my sister at Festival Mall, I decided to bring My Little Kulit with me so we can have a date.

As usual our first stop is the Arcade, I just bought Php 50.00 tokens lang, he is happy na he played basket ball, bowling and some games na I don’t know how you call it.

Look how happy my son is

After his arcade, he had his hair cut, it’s time for him to try the Barber shop it is his second time so far so good.

At 7pm we had a dinner date with my Barkada, it’s late for us to realize that we didn’t have a picture sa sobrang chika.

Sunday, we have to deliver the stocks at the pharmacy we stayed for 3 hours and had lunch with dad.  We went home first to put Little Kulit to sleep before going to the mall and to pick my sister and mom. At 430pm we are in SM BF, we bought some things for his school and baon.

Siyempre humabol ng toy

After dinner we had grocery and went home.

That’s what you call  a time management to be able to spend time with My Little Kulit, bonding with my friends for life, a time for business and a quality time with the whole family.

Till next weekend

Lazada Experience

While checking my FB I saw a post from Lazada about their Avent sale, I decided to browse their website and ended up buying some stuffs.

I choose to pay on cash during the delivery after two days my package is already here and take note shipping is free.

I bought potty seat for Php 250.00, Avent 11oz bottle for Php 450.00, Avent Natural Teat for Php 300.00

After two days when I discovered that the Avent bottle is not functioning well, I called their customer service and instructed me to return the bottle in any LBC or 2go together with the return form, After two days I received an email and text from Lazada that they will refund my money.

I decided to buy another set of Avent bottle it’s a Twin pack of 90z, I used my refund as a payment after two days I received the new bottle.

Overall experience I had a great deal with the Lazada team and I will definitely order more items with them :-)

Getting Ready For School

As an excited mom, I want to everything to be perfect and organized for his first day in class. As early as March I bought some of his things na during sale. Actually his black Chicco Shoes was bought last September during the Sm Southmall 3 day sale . Some of the school supplies are came from the loot bag during events and giveaways.

When I got the list and learned that he is accelerated I bought his school supplies already, as early as possible to avoid the long lines at the cashier.

Tips: Hoard school supplies during sale :-)

Let's start with the school supplies list

I ordered the bag tags and sticker labels at Ink Creations , they are easy to talk with they even accepted my order in last minute.

I got this self ink stamp for our study time at Paper Chic Studio during Expo last Month

School supplies bought in National bookstore, some are free from the loot bags

One of the requirements is shoe box with his toiletries and extra clothes, he loves Mickey Mouse I bought the mickey mouse toiletries pack for Php 50.00 only during the Puregold sale.

And now we are ready for his school :-)
